Running for president?

School reopened not long ago.. and there are rumors that the points system might be replaced by a stupid new system. Personally, I support the old points system. To me, under the points system is like under a democratic society. The points are the money in which students have to earn in order to "bid" for their room; the "richest" will get the room. Those who join a lot of activities will get the room, as they well deserved it, having work so hard for the points.

SOme might think that people are joining activities for the wrong reasons eg. joining the club just because of the points and not because of interest. However, without the points system, who will want to join the clubs? Do they really think that most people will join the clubs just for interest? I'm not sure for the others, but for me, if points system is scraped and only the main com is given a room, I would not join any sub com at all. Even if I join the sub com, because the job doesn't do me any good, I won't really give a damn as to what is happening in the club, unless I'm REALLY that interested in that ECA. I might even choose not to join any ECA at all, if I can't get any main com position which really defeated the purpose of ECAs..

Anyway, the points system is still to stay for at least 1 year, meanwhile, I'm running for my school's club president. There is another junior running for the same post, I certainly hope that I can get the post, if not, losing to a freshie when everyone thought that I will get the post is damn ma lu-ing. Quite a few people are running for Hon Gen and Daph told me that she is not running -_- haiz.. can't force her also. Meanwhile, Cynthia change her mind and ran for biz mag, which I'm glad for I believe she has the power to persuade people and she is aggressive enough. Cherin is running for FC and that with her previous experience, I think the post is made for her.

With the talk I made with Shangmay last night, I can see the challenges in front of me (that is if I get the post). I am half worried and half excited. While I look forward to learning more stuff and getting to know more people, I'm afraid that I'm not cut out to be a sociable person. For others, if you don't talk much when you first introduce yourself to others, people will think that you are shy. For me, if I don't talk, people will think that I'm TAO. Haiz.. tao face.. and I don't really like to socialise... that is one BIG problem. Moreover, I'm afraid for my studies, econometrics is TOTALLY lost, not to mention international financial management when I don't know what the PRC lecturer is talking about.

All I can wish for is that I can change my mindset and get myself to work harder. For both studies and ECA.
